Using D3.js to create a generative identity for the NCM's feature exhibition

Signal to Noise is a feature exhibition at the NCM (National Communication Museum) examining how artists work with, or challenge noise, disruptions & glitches. Featuring works from artists such as Nam June Paik, George Brecht & Lillian Schwartz.

Working closely with the curatorial team, I developed the visual identity of the exhibition around a type mark comprised of over 10,000 individual nodes.

Programmed using a D3.js (traditionally a data visualisation library) and rendered using a WebGL canvas, the effect animates itself using gravity and repulsion to dynamically attract and repel each node from each other. Fluctuating between states of order and chaos.
